Commercial Interior Design in Columbus, Ohio

Commercial interior design in Columbus, Ohio means designing and furnishing the shared spaces, model units and rooms of the apartments, rental homes, hotels and senior communities Central Ohio is adding as its population and manufacturing base grow. We are an Irvine-based firm with most of our projects outside Southern California, and we are ready to take on Columbus work with our own receiving warehouse and installation partners across the country.

The brief here is practical: interiors that feel comfortable rather than trendy, hold up to slush and road salt, and are finished on the day leasing opens.

Arsenal-1 and a Columbus Metro Adding Residents

Anduril's Arsenal-1, announced in January 2025, is a 5-million-square-foot manufacturing facility on a 500-acre site near Rickenbacker International Airport in Pickaway County that adds a planned 4,000 jobs. That hiring lands on a metro that is already growing. According to new census numbers, the Columbus metro area's estimated population grew by more than 21,000 to 2,242,028 in 2025, a growth rate double the national rate.

Central Ohio grows outward across a wide ring of suburbs, so the demand shows up as garden-style and wrap apartments, build-to-rent neighborhoods and new-home communities on former farmland. Construction crews for advanced manufacturing and data center projects add a separate need for extended-stay hotels and furnished workforce units, and the metro's older households keep senior and active adult communities in the pipeline.

Columbus Clubhouses, Leasing Offices and Build-to-Rent Models

Engineers, technicians and skilled trades moving in for new jobs often rent for a while before they buy, and they compare communities quickly. In a garden-style or wrap building, the clubhouse and leasing office make the first impression, so we plan them around the tour: where a prospect waits, where the conversation happens and what they pass on the way to the model unit. A fitness room people use daily and a package room sized for real delivery volume usually earn more than a showpiece lounge.

Build-to-rent communities call for a quieter, residential hand. The amenity building and the model home do the selling, and finishes have to repeat across floor plans without looking stamped out. Builders selling new homes nearby face the same test in model home merchandising, where furniture scaled to the real rooms lets a buyer picture daily life instead of a set.

Shift Workers, Work Boots and Columbus Extended-Stay Rooms

Workforce housing and extended-stay hotels often open first when construction crews arrive, and they take the hardest wear of any product in the market. Residents come home in work boots, keep shift hours and move out when a phase ends, so we specify for fast turns and easy replacement rather than for a photograph.

  • Furniture from lines that stay in production, so a broken piece is replaced with an exact match
  • Performance fabrics and solid-surface tops that clean up between residents
  • Kitchenettes and desks sized for real use over a long stay
  • Room-darkening shades for residents who sleep during the day

Planning Commercial Interior Design in Columbus, Ohio Around Freeze-Thaw and Gray Skies

Central Ohio gives an interior every kind of weather. Cold, gray winters bring snow, road salt and freeze-thaw cycles, and all of it comes through the front door. We plan entries with recessed walk-off matting, porcelain or sealed stone at the threshold and wall protection where carts and strollers turn. Warm, humid summers follow, so rugs and upholstery near pools, fitness rooms and patios are chosen to resist moisture and mildew.

Light is the subtler problem. Long overcast stretches flatten a room, so we layer lighting at several heights, keep color temperatures warm and pair lighter walls with warm wood, brick and limestone. Local architecture runs from Victorian brick to mid-century suburbs to new subdivisions, and the interiors that sit well among them read comfortable and unfussy.

From a Southern California Warehouse to a Columbus Move-In Date

Design and documentation run from our Irvine studio, and our designers travel for site walks and installation. For FF&E procurement, orders from many vendors arrive at our receiving warehouse in Southern California, where pieces are unpacked and checked before they ship, so freight damage or a wrong finish surfaces while there is still time to reorder.

Consolidated loads then head east to our installation partners, and our designers are there to place, style and punch out each room before handover. We build the schedule backward from the first move-in or the first booked night, order long-lead pieces early and keep slack in the calendar for winter storms that can close a jobsite.

Questions

Do you provide commercial interior design in Columbus, Ohio?

Yes. From our Irvine studio, we are ready to bring Columbus owners the same design and procurement process we use in every other market. Most of our projects are outside Southern California, with completed work in states including Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia and New York, and our warehouse and installation partners support projects across the country.

Which Columbus property types do you design?

Multi Family communities, build-to-rent neighborhoods, extended-stay hotels and workforce housing, senior living and active adult communities, and model homes. We also take on smaller Columbus jobs: one amenity room, a furniture refresh, finish selections or a single rendering for an approval meeting.

Can you furnish a workforce or extended-stay property in phases?

Yes. When buildings or floors come online at different times, we split the order into deliveries that match each opening and hold the rest in our warehouse. Each phase is installed and styled completely, so residents never move into a half-furnished building.

Will your designers come to Columbus during the project?

Yes. Our designers travel for the site walks that matter most and for installation, and the rest of the coordination runs from Irvine. Bringing us in at finish selections, before drawings are final, gives the most room to line up materials and deliveries with your opening date.

What else is bringing new residents and visitors to Central Ohio?

Life sciences and air travel are two more threads. In April 2025, Amgen announced a $900 million expansion of its central Ohio manufacturing facility that will add 350 jobs to the 400 people already employed there. The region's two commercial airports welcomed 9.36 million passengers in 2025, up from the previous year's record of 9.25 million, and a new passenger terminal is under construction, which keeps relocating staff and business travelers moving through Columbus hotels and furnished rentals.
