Inland Empire

Commercial Interior Design in the Inland Empire

Level Up Interiors provides commercial interior design in the Inland Empire for the apartment communities, master-planned neighborhoods, build-to-rent homes and 55+ communities going up across Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Rancho Cucamonga is where we completed Elate, a 55+ active adult community model home program.

We design from our Irvine office, receive and inspect furniture at our own warehouse in Southern California, and install with local crews, so owners and builders here work with one team from the first mood board to the last placed lamp.

Commercial Interior Design in the Inland Empire for Commuter Households

Inland Empire Economic Partnership economists wrote that because housing here is more affordable than in the coastal counties, large numbers of workers live in the Inland Empire and commute to coastal jobs, approximately 350,000 at recent count. That pattern decides how a community gets used. On commute days residents leave early and come home late, so the clubhouse, pool deck and fitness room see their heaviest use in the evening and on weekends. Plan lighting, acoustics and seating for those hours, not for a midday tour.

Many of the same households staff the region's hospitals, clinics and public offices, often on shifts or split weeks. A quiet work lounge with proper task lighting, a package room sized for constant deliveries and a unit plan with a desk spot that is not the dining table all earn their place.

Household growth adds to that load. Riverside County gained 11,256 residents between July 1, 2024 and July 1, 2025, reaching 2,492,366, the second-largest numeric gain of any California county in the state's estimate, and most of that increase came from births and immigration rather than moves from other counties. Health care and local government, the region's two largest employment sectors, created 24,400 new jobs in 2025 even as total job growth stayed small, so amenity spaces planned around shift schedules matter as much as a showpiece lobby.

Competing for Renters as Inland Empire Apartment Deliveries Taper

Builders completed 2,923 apartment units in the Inland Empire in the first half of 2025, according to Berkadia, which expects metrowide deliveries to decelerate sharply from 2026 through 2029 as the development pipeline thins. That gives owners two different design problems.

A building that just delivered is leasing up against neighbors with similar unit plans and finish levels. The model units, the leasing office and the first amenity a prospect walks into are where it can look different, so that is where we suggest spending first. The owner of an older garden-style or wrap community has the opposite problem: with fewer new buildings on the way, there is a window to rework a clubhouse or re-furnish a model so the property holds its own against newer stock. We take on those smaller scopes, down to one amenity room.

Model Homes and 55+ Clubhouses at the Inland Empire's Edges

Large master-planned new-home communities keep opening on the region's outer edges, and each one sells from its models. Our founder and principal designer, Laura Velasco, began her career in model home merchandising, and that background shows in how we plan a model program: furniture scaled so every room reads at its true size, a distinct story for each plan so buyers remember which home was which, and orders worked backward from the sales opening.

In active adult and senior communities the priorities shift toward chairs with firm seats and arms, lighting that is bright without glare, clear paths through every room and a clubhouse that hosts an afternoon card game and an evening dinner without a full reset.

Stucco, Clay Tile and Santa Ana Winds in Inland Empire Finishes

The region supplies its own palette: the citrus groves and packing houses of Riverside and Redlands, the old vineyard roots of Rancho Cucamonga, Temecula wine country, and Mission Revival and Spanish Colonial buildings full of stucco, clay tile and warm wood. We treat that as a starting point and keep it from turning into a theme.

The climate writes the rest: hot, dry summers with intense sun, fall Santa Ana winds and cool winter nights under snow on the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains.

  • Outdoor seating heavy enough to stay put in a Santa Ana, or anchored, with weighted umbrella bases and a plan for storing umbrellas on wind days
  • Solution-dyed outdoor fabrics and quick-dry cushion foam that keep their color through summer
  • Cleanable, low-texture surfaces at entries and patios, where wind-blown dust collects
  • Fire features and heaters so pool decks stay in use on cool winter nights

Inland Empire Install Days With Designers in the Room

Furniture for an Inland Empire project comes into our receiving warehouse in Southern California, where we check each delivery against the order, flag damage before it reaches the site and hold everything until the building is ready. Deliveries go out in a planned sequence, and local installation crews place every piece with our designers on site, so punch list items get resolved while the team is still there. The rooms are finished and styled for the first walk-through instead of half set up.

Questions

What does commercial interior design in the Inland Empire usually include?

It usually covers the shared spaces and model units that sell or lease a community: clubhouses, leasing offices, pool decks, fitness rooms and furnished models. It can also include the furnished homes in a build-to-rent community or the common areas of a 55+ community. Scopes can be as small as one amenity room or a single rendering.

Have you completed work in the Inland Empire?

Yes. Elate in Rancho Cucamonga, a 55+ active adult community model home program, is completed work in the region. Our project galleries show more of our photographed work in California, Arizona and Alabama.

Can you handle model home merchandising for an Inland Empire community opening?

Yes. Model homes sit close to our founder's own career, which began in model home merchandising. We merchandise each plan for the buyer the builder is targeting, order against the sales opening date and style the homes for photography once installed.

Where is furniture held before an Inland Empire install?

At our own receiving warehouse in Southern California. Pieces are inspected on arrival, stored until the site is ready and sent out on a coordinated schedule, which keeps damaged or missing items from surfacing on install day.

Do you work on older Inland Empire apartment communities?

Yes. Property managers and asset managers bring us in to refresh clubhouses, leasing offices and model units at existing garden-style and wrap communities, often starting with a property walk and finish selections before any furniture is ordered.
