Gulf Coast LNG Workforce Housing Interior Design
Gulf Coast LNG workforce housing is the crew lodging, extended-stay rooms, apartments and rental homes built for the people who construct and then operate the liquefied natural gas export plants along the Texas and Louisiana coast. Its interiors have to serve a large construction workforce that eventually moves on and the smaller permanent staff of operators and maintenance crews who stay.
We are ready to serve Beaumont-Port Arthur, Lake Charles, Corpus Christi and Houston as a national team based in Irvine, with our own Southern California receiving warehouse and installation partners across the country.
Beaumont-Port Arthur: one LNG plant shipping, another financed
Read more
On April 22, 2026, Golden Pass LNG shipped its first cargo from Train 1, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The plant at Sabine Pass has three liquefaction trains with total nominal capacity of 2.0 Bcf/d. In the same metro, Sempra Infrastructure reached a final investment decision in September 2025 on Phase 2 of Port Arthur LNG, which adds two liquefaction trains and about 13 million tpy of capacity, according to Oil & Gas Journal.
The metro is living in two phases at once. Construction crews still fill extended-stay hotels and RV parks, while the first plant operators and maintenance technicians start looking for permanent homes alongside the refining and port workforce that was already here.
That overlap favors buildings that open as furnished crew housing and settle into workforce apartments and rental homes later.
Lake Charles and the CP2 construction peak in Cameron Parish

At peak construction, Venture Global's CP2 LNG project in Cameron Parish is expected to employ approximately 7,500 direct construction jobs, with 400 permanent direct jobs, according to Rigzone. Much of the housing pressure from southwest Louisiana's LNG construction lands in and around Lake Charles.
Most of the people who build a plant like this will not be the people who live near it afterward. LNG construction housing fills first, in extended-stay hotels, RV and crew housing, and rental homes. The lasting demand is workforce apartments and rental homes for operators and support crews, plus replacement and rebuilt housing in a market that has absorbed repeated hurricane damage.
Louisiana is a market we are ready to serve with the same national team, receiving warehouse and installation network we use on every project outside Southern California. For a Lake Charles owner, the most useful early conversation is which rooms must work for both populations and which can be specified for one.
Corpus Christi after Stage 3, and Houston's population gain

Cheniere completed its Corpus Christi Liquefaction Stage 3 project on August 28, 2026, when the seventh and last train was turned over, according to Cheniere Energy. With that build finished, Corpus Christi housing demand leans toward permanent plant, port and maintenance staff and the rotating contractors who still come through for industrial work. Garden-style and wrap apartments, extended-stay hotels and build-to-rent homes fit that mix, and permanent employers also support new-home communities and active adult housing, including retirees drawn to the coast.
The Houston-Pasadena-The Woodlands metro added 126,720 residents between July 1, 2024 and July 1, 2025, the largest numeric gain among U.S. metro areas, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Much of that growth goes into garden-style apartments, build-to-rent neighborhoods and master-planned new-home communities in the suburban rings, while energy, petrochemical and port work keeps workforce housing and extended-stay hotels in demand along the industrial corridors. Large medical employers and an aging population add senior and active adult communities to the mix.
What Gulf Coast LNG workforce housing asks of a unit
Read more
Residents coming off long shifts at a liquefaction site judge a unit fast: whether they can sleep in daylight, whether wet gear has somewhere to go, and whether the room still looks decent after heavy use. Along this coast the climate adds humidity, salt air and hurricane season, so the specification has to resist moisture as well as wear.
Shared rooms follow the shift calendar more than the clock. A lounge that fills at dawn and again late at night needs seating that works for a handful of people or a full room, and a kitchen or grab-and-go counter that suits odd hours.
- Room-darkening window treatments and acoustic separation between bedrooms and living areas, so day sleepers get real rest
- A hard-surface entry with hooks, a bench and a place for muddy boots and rain gear
- Lockable storage sized for coolers, hard hats and duffels
- Moisture-tolerant plank or tile flooring, mildew-resistant performance fabrics and corrosion-resistant hardware near the water
- Seating with replaceable cushions and covers, so a unit can turn without a full refurnish
Operators, families and retirees: the housing that outlasts Gulf Coast LNG construction
Read more
Construction peaks end and buildings stay, so we ask developers to plan for the second resident from the first layout. That can mean crew units that also lease as conventional apartments, finish packages that survive a furnished rotation and still appeal to a long-term renter, and an amenity room that starts as a meal and laundry hub and later becomes a resident lounge.
The rest of the housing mix follows the permanent payroll. Garden-style apartments and build-to-rent neighborhoods give operators and port staff room to settle, and their clubhouses and leasing offices set the first impression on a tour. New-home communities need model homes that show a family how a floor plan lives, with storage and a mudroom that read as practical. Senior living and active adult communities ask for good lighting, clear contrast and finishes that feel warm rather than institutional.
Local character belongs in all of it. Refinery and port skylines, Cajun and Creole cooking, Tejano culture in Corpus Christi and Houston's international mix give each metro its own palette, from shell, sand, seafoam and weathered wood on the bay to brick and warm Gulf South tones farther east.
Receiving, freight and install crews for Gulf Coast LNG housing

Our completed work includes Texas, and like most of our projects, a Gulf Coast crew building sits far outside Southern California. On a Gulf Coast job, furniture, art and accessories ship from manufacturers to our own receiving warehouse in Southern California. Each delivery is checked against the order and held until the building is ready, so damage and missing pieces surface there instead of on install day, and the site gets one coordinated delivery rather than a trickle of partial shipments.
At the property, installation partners from our network across the United States supply the crews, and our designers direct the install so finished rooms match the plan. We set delivery windows with hurricane season in mind and keep the schedule flexible when weather moves a construction date.
Questions
Can you plan Gulf Coast LNG workforce housing to convert into conventional apartments later?
Yes, and we recommend making that decision before construction drawings are final. Unit layouts, flooring, counters and casework can be chosen to suit a furnished crew building now and a standard lease later. Done that way, the conversion is mostly a furniture change, not a renovation.
Can a firm based in Irvine run a project in Beaumont-Port Arthur or Lake Charles?
Yes. Beaumont-Port Arthur is in Texas, one of the states where we have completed work, and running a job far from Southern California is how most of our projects work. Orders are consolidated and checked at our Southern California receiving warehouse before they ship, and installation partners across the country provide local crews while our designers lead the install. Lake Charles and the rest of Louisiana are markets we are ready to serve with the same team and process.
How do you choose finishes for Gulf Coast humidity, salt air and storms?
We start with moisture-tolerant flooring, mildew-resistant performance fabrics and finishes that clean easily, and we avoid materials that swell or stain in damp air. Near the water in Corpus Christi and Beaumont-Port Arthur, salt air also pushes us toward hardware and metals that resist corrosion.
When should a developer bring in an interior designer on LNG construction housing?
Early enough that storage, outlet locations and lighting are settled before construction drawings are final. Furniture with long lead times also has to be ordered against the construction schedule.
Do you take on small scopes, such as one amenity room or a furniture refresh?
Yes. An extended-stay property refreshing its guest rooms, a crew building that needs one lounge reworked, or a developer who needs a rendering for an approval are all projects we take on. Small orders still pass through our warehouse, so they get the same receiving and checking as a full building.
