Build-to-Rent Community Interior Design in Raleigh-Durham
Build-to-rent interior design in Raleigh-Durham covers the amenity center, leasing space, model homes and finish packages for single-family rental communities that are built to be leased, not sold. Novartis broke ground in December 2025 on expanded pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities in the Research Triangle, part of a $771 million investment across Durham and Wake counties that the state says will support more than 700 new jobs.
Households that move for work like that often want a house with a yard rather than an apartment, and that choice raises the standard for everything inside the community.
Why Raleigh-Durham renters choose a house

Newer suburban building here favors porches and indoor-outdoor living, and a renter who picks a rental house over an apartment is buying that lifestyle without the purchase. They expect a real kitchen, storage that works, a back patio and a neighborhood that feels settled. Many are relocating professionals or families following a plant or corporate expansion, and they are comparing the rental against homes for sale nearby.
That comparison shapes our approach. The interior has to look like a home someone would want to own, then hold up like a rental.
The build-to-rent amenity center in Raleigh-Durham

A horizontal community has no lobby and no hallway where neighbors cross paths, so a small amenity center does the work of the whole building. It holds the leasing desk, a package and mail point, a lounge, a place to work and often a fitness room, arranged so a prospect understands the neighborhood in one visit.
Piedmont summers are hot and humid and the green season is long, which pushes the design toward covered outdoor rooms. A porch-style terrace beside the amenity center, furnished with frames and cushions that tolerate damp and sun, becomes the room residents actually use. Inside, oak and walnut tones, painted brick and tall windows keep the center warm and well-lit without a heavy hand.
Finish packages for Raleigh-Durham rental houses that turn

The house is where build-to-rent differs most from an apartment. Dozens of homes share one palette, every home has more floor, more wall and more cabinet than a unit, and each one will be repainted and re-cleaned at turnover. We build the package around that reality.
- A limited palette of flooring, paint and hardware that reads as considered, so a single touch-up kit serves many homes
- Scrubbable wall finishes in kitchens, entries and the rooms children and pets use hardest
- Hard-wearing flooring at entries, where rain and the long green season bring in moisture
- Fixtures and hardware chosen so a replacement can be reordered years later
Models and leasing for Raleigh-Durham build-to-rent

The model home is furnished to show a renter their own life: a dining table that seats a family, a desk for the person working from home, a bedroom that accepts a real bed. We stage it for the household that is actually coming, which here includes engineers, plant staff and professionals moving in from elsewhere.
Because build-to-rent opens in phases, the models and the amenity center are usually the first things built and the longest photographed. We source furniture for them early, receive and inspect it at our own warehouse in Southern California, and install it with designers on site. We are based in Irvine, we have completed work in North Carolina, and most of our projects are outside Southern California.
Questions
What does build-to-rent interior design in Raleigh-Durham cover?
It covers the amenity center, leasing space, model homes and the repeatable finish package used across every rental house. The goal is a home that feels owned and wears like a rental.
How is a build-to-rent community different from an apartment community?
There is no shared lobby or corridor, so the amenity center carries the social life and the first impression. Each house also has far more surface to maintain, which makes the finish package and the turnover plan central.
Do you furnish the models as well as design them?
Yes. We select and procure the furniture, art and accessories, receive and inspect it, and install it with our designers on site. A client can also hire us for the models alone.
Have you completed work in North Carolina?
Yes. We have completed work in North Carolina, and a build-to-rent community in Wake or Durham County would be handled by that same team. We run remote projects routinely, since most of our projects are outside Southern California.
