Commercial Interior Design in Raleigh-Durham
Commercial interior design in Raleigh is the planning, furnishing and installation of amenity spaces, leasing areas and common rooms for apartment, student, build-to-rent and senior communities across the Triangle. Our team works from Irvine, California, and North Carolina is already one of the states where we have completed work.
Rental demand here is driven by people who work in labs, hospitals and research offices, by students at several universities, and by families moving to the suburbs. Each group wants something different from the same square footage.
Designing for Renters Who Work in Research

Many of the people touring Triangle apartments work in research, health care and technology, many on hybrid schedules. For them, the amenity floor is part of the workday. Coworking rooms need enough seats, proper task chairs, reliable power at every table, phone rooms with real acoustic separation and lighting that holds up on a video call.
The lounge around that work zone still has to feel like home after six. We separate the two with layout and sound control rather than walls where possible, so a resident can move from a focused morning at a desk to an evening with friends without leaving the building. Finishes lean warm and natural, with enough polish for a professional resident and enough durability for a dog-friendly community.
The employers behind that demand are life sciences manufacturers, not data centers. Novartis broke ground in December 2025 on expanded plants, part of a $771 million commitment across the two counties, and the state puts the job count above 700. Biogen has said it will spend $2 billion on its Research Triangle Park operations. Professionals who staff plants like these want amenity floors that make a hybrid week easy.
Student Housing That Serves More Than One Campus

Several universities sit within the region, and a student community near one of them may draw residents from more than one school. That means a broader resident profile: undergraduates who want social space, graduate students who need quiet, and international students who may arrive with little and expect a fully furnished unit.
We plan amenity zones with clear jobs. A loud social room, a quiet study room and a flexible space in between work better than one large lounge that is never quite right for anyone. In units, furniture is chosen for the summer turn, with replaceable parts and stock items that can be reordered quickly.
Build-to-Rent Communities in the Suburbs
Read more
Build-to-rent communities are growing on the suburban edges of the Triangle. Residents live in houses, not stacked units, so the amenity center has to draw them out of their own homes. That usually means a clubhouse with a strong kitchen and gathering space, a fitness room, a pool, and outdoor rooms furnished as carefully as the interior.
The model homes matter as much as the clubhouse. They sell a rental lifestyle, so we merchandise them for the way a renter actually lives and keep finish packages consistent enough to repeat across a large number of homes.
North Carolina weather sets the rules for all of it.
Holly Springs shows where that demand lands. Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies opened a $3.2 billion biopharmaceutical facility there in September 2025 that employs 700 people, and the company expects that figure to double by 2031. That is a company expectation, not current headcount, but it is the sort of hiring that sends technicians to suburban rental houses, and Genentech's planned $700 million plant in the same town, with 420 people to employ, points the same way.
- Outdoor furniture with powder-coated aluminum frames and quick-dry cushions that shed humid summer air
- Covered outdoor rooms with fans, since shade and air movement get more use than open sun
- Hard, wipeable outdoor surfaces that clean easily during the yellow coat of spring pollen
- Performance fabrics indoors, near doors and pool areas where damp and pollen are tracked inside
- Walk-off matting at clubhouse entries to keep pollen and grit off finished floors
Commercial Interior Design in Raleigh for Active Adult and Senior Living
Read more
Active adult communities in the Triangle attract residents who are often still working and very social. Their clubhouse should feel like a club, with a bar or demonstration kitchen, game and hobby rooms, and outdoor space for events, not like a care setting. Senior living, by contrast, needs dining rooms, lounges and corridors planned around safety and daily routine while still feeling residential to visiting families.
Both benefit from furniture with arms and firm seats, glare control at large windows, clear floor contrast and fabrics that clean easily.
Questions
Do you provide commercial interior design in Raleigh and Durham?
Yes. North Carolina is one of the states where we have completed work, and we take on multi family, student housing, build-to-rent and senior living projects across the Triangle from our Irvine studio.
How do you handle procurement and installation for a North Carolina project?
FF&E is received and inspected at our Southern California warehouse, then delivered to the site on a schedule tied to construction. Local installation crews assemble and place each item with our designers on site to direct the work and finish the styling.
What makes a build-to-rent amenity center different from an apartment clubhouse?
Residents of a build-to-rent community already have private homes and yards, so the amenity center has to offer what a house cannot. A larger gathering kitchen, event space, fitness and well-furnished outdoor rooms tend to carry the most weight.
How does pollen season affect material choices?
Spring pollen coats outdoor furniture and tracks indoors. We favor wipeable outdoor surfaces, performance fabrics near entries and walk-off matting at doors so cleaning stays simple.
Can you design coworking space inside an apartment amenity floor?
Yes. We plan seating counts, power, task lighting, phone rooms and acoustic separation so the space works for a full workday, and we connect it to the lounge without letting noise travel between the two.
