Commercial Interior Design in Salt Lake City

Commercial interior design in Salt Lake City is the work of specifying and furnishing apartments, build-to-rent homes, extended-stay hotels and senior communities for a valley where job growth and data center construction are adding residents. Our studio is in Irvine and most of our projects are outside Southern California, including completed work in Arizona and Colorado, and Salt Lake City is a market we are ready to serve with our own receiving warehouse and installation partners across the country.

The valley's light, its winters and its outdoors-first residents shape the specification as much as the floor plan does.

Inversions, Snow and Commercial Interior Design in Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City sits in a mountain-ringed valley with big sky and strong, clear light for much of the year, heavy winter snow and hot, dry summers. Winter inversions are the exception that shapes the design, when the valley sits under a gray lid and residents spend more time indoors. Interiors that stay bright through that stretch earn their keep: layered ambient and task lighting, warm color temperatures, pale walls and warm timber that keep a lounge inviting on a dim afternoon.

The rest of the year the problem flips to glare and heat gain, so west-facing amenity rooms get solar shades and fabrics chosen for colorfastness. The palette can draw on the region, with red rock, sagebrush, granite and alpine blue set against warm wood and natural stone, used as an accent rather than a theme. An outdoors-first culture also puts skis, bikes and climbing gear in a lot of units, which calls for secure gear rooms near a ground-floor door and entries with walk-off matting and boot trays for snowmelt.

Payroll Growth, a Data Center Campus and Salt Lake City Rentals

The Bureau of Labor Statistics counted 20,900 more nonfarm payroll jobs in the Salt Lake City-Murray metro area over the year ending August 2026, a rise of 2.5 percent. Data center construction adds another layer. In March 2025, Novva Data Centers announced $2 billion in financing to finish its West Jordan campus, which will span one million square feet with 175MW of capacity.

Corporate and life-science hiring in Salt Lake County supports wrap and podium apartments near job centers, while the southwest valley adds garden-style communities, build-to-rent homes and new-home neighborhoods for families. Extended-stay hotels serve construction and project crews, and senior and active adult housing serves the valley's older residents. The employer side is broader than data centers. Stryker's tax reduction from the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity is tied to a projected 862 new jobs, and hiring like that sends relocating employees looking for furnished apartments and quality common areas.

Multi Family Interior Design in Salt Lake City, From Podium Lobbies to Garden Clubhouses

A podium building near a job center and a garden community in the southwest valley serve different renters, and their interiors should not be interchangeable. In a podium or wrap building, the lobby, leasing office and amenity deck carry the brand, and a professional renter looks for a quiet place to take a call, a fitness room with real equipment and a package system that works. Garden communities lean on the clubhouse and pool, and their residents often bring kids, dogs and a truck full of gear.

Build-to-rent and new-home communities ask for interiors that read like a real home. The model home and amenity building do the selling, so we scale furniture to the actual rooms and repeat finishes across plans without the sameness buyers notice on a tour.

Salt Lake City Extended-Stay Rooms and Senior Communities

Extended-stay hotels for construction and project crews need rooms that function as small apartments: a kitchenette that gets real use, a desk with good task light, blackout shades, and furniture from lines with dependable restock so a damaged piece is replaced with an exact match.

Senior and active adult communities ask for the opposite of anonymous. Seating that is easy to rise from, clear contrast between floors and walls, glare control at big windows and common rooms where residents and visiting families settle in together matter more than any finish trend. Active adult buyers in an outdoors-first region also expect fitness space and gear storage that match how they actually live.

Salt Lake City Installs Coordinated From Our Southern California Warehouse

Design and documentation run from Irvine, and our designers travel for site walks and installation. FF&E procurement funnels every vendor's shipment into our receiving warehouse in Southern California, where pieces are opened and checked before anything heads to Utah, so a damaged or incorrect item is caught early. Our installation partners then receive the consolidated loads, and our designers place and style each room before handover.

Heavy snow can stall a jobsite or a delivery, so we plan winter installs with weather slack and order long-lead pieces early enough that a storm costs a day rather than the opening.

Questions

Do you provide commercial interior design in Salt Lake City?

Yes. We have not completed a Utah project yet, but our Irvine studio is ready to serve owners across the Salt Lake valley. Most of our projects are outside Southern California, with completed work in states including Arizona, Colorado and Washington, and our warehouse and installation partners support projects across the country.

What kinds of Salt Lake City projects fit your team?

Wrap, podium and garden-style apartments, build-to-rent communities, extended-stay hotels, senior and active adult communities and model homes. We also take focused scopes such as a clubhouse refresh, finish selections or a rendering for an ownership or lender meeting.

How do you keep interiors bright during inversion season?

We layer lighting at several heights, keep color temperatures warm and favor lighter walls and warm wood over dark, flat palettes. Mirrors and glass placed to bounce daylight help, and amenity rooms get enough lamps that they never depend on a single overhead fixture.

What flooring works for ski, bike and snow traffic?

Porcelain tile and commercial-grade luxury vinyl handle grit and meltwater in entries, corridors and gear rooms, and recessed walk-off matting stops most of it at the door. We save carpet and wood for rooms that boots rarely reach.
